It’s Wednesday.
And if this newsletter feels heavier than usual, it’s because it is.
There’s no clever welcome note. No quirky quote to start your day.
Just a story that weighs on our collective conscience.
Let’s talk about what happened in Pahalgam…
📌A terror attack in paradise
The Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam, often called ‘Mini Switzerland.’ is a spot where tourists usually go to breathe. To take in nature. To feel safe.
On Tuesday afternoon, it became a site of horror.
At least 26 people were killed when terrorists opened fire in broad daylight, targeting holidayers at this serene hilltop just 5km from Pahalgam. This is the deadliest attack on civilians in Kashmir since Pulwama, 2019.
Among the dead: two foreign tourists (from UAE and Nepal), and two locals. The rest were Indian nationals visiting from different parts of the country, including families and young children.
Police and CRPF teams arrived at the scene shortly after the firing stopped.
“We thought it was firecrackers at first,” a survivor told India Today. “But then the screams started. That’s when we ran.”
Videos circulating on social media show the Baisaran meadow moments before the attack. A man is seen walking casually, moments before chaos erupts.
Gunshots crackle. People scream. The video cuts.
In another video, the same man is seen praying for others’ safety:
“A terrorist attack has taken place here… we escaped narrowly… God will protect us.”

This wasn’t just a terror strike, it was an ambush on peace.
Prime Minister Modi cut short his Saudi Arabia trip and flew back Tuesday night.
Rahul Gandhi reportedly dialed Home Minister Amit Shah directly, asking for a thorough investigation.
High-level meetings are already underway in New Delhi.
The attack also comes close on the heels of Pakistani army chief General Asim Munir's controversial remark, calling Kashmir the “jugular vein” of Pakistan. Indian intelligence is investigating possible links.
But politics aside, this was an attack on humanity.
